Rezzing in UW
I was recently in a small group run in the UnderWorld. I (the tank) died. When the monk tried to res me, I came up, then immediately died. No DP added, and a -0 indicator came above my head saying I lost 0 health. The monk tried rebirth, with the same result, only I was transported back to the monks feet before dying again. He rebirthed me all the way back to the spawn point at the start of the UW, with no luck at all. And still, I received no DP at all, just died straight away.
^that is what I sent to the Anet team. They said they would like me to discuss it on an open message board so here I am. Anyone else had this happen? Any reason this might happen? |

Well, how many superiour runes do you have on? That might have something to do with it. If that's not the case, it's probably a bug.

This can happen sometimes when a 55hp build character dies but you should still get DP. The only other possibility I can see is that the monk used Vengeance and it was instantly rended, it explains the lack of DP but is still highly unlikely (how many monks would bring Vengeance to the UW ?).
I cant think of anything else, this is a very serious bug. If it can happen in UW, it could happen in HoH or GvG. |

if you were using a 55HP build, it's no bug at all, the DP is calculated upon your basic health, and then the runes/focus are brought into account, with 15%DP, that's 1 HP.
Any res that does not res you with >50% of your health will result in insta death (cause your health will get rounded down to 0). The only way to succesfully res a 55 monk is a res signet (and maybe restore life, haven't tried that one). you not getting DP is very common, if you die too soon after a res, no extra DP is added. This counts for any res, everywhere. |

Actually. the facts of 55hp build that Rotten pointed out are correct...
The trick? is Vengence. No matter what your health is, it will always rez a person for that set amount of time. In that time (30 seconds?) the monk needs to change out at least either their -50hp offhand or change a piece of armor before they die again. Then a person can normally ressurect him... So in a group the 55 build tank will always need other pieces of armor, different offhand and partner to bring both vengence and rez. enjoy |

Yeah, I was 55. But I didnt get instantly rended, there were no enemies anywhere. I took of all my armour and my offhand when I ressed so I had 480 health. But it didnt work. It was a signet used first of all, as that was brought in case of dying in th middle of a group so I could tnakt them again and continue. That didnt work, so we tried rebirth, thinknig it was somethnig to do with the area we were in. But to no avail.

You can't change your armour while you are dead. Or your weapons. Or ID, or salvage.
How did you die? |

You can't change any inventory items while dead. The signet is the only thing, other than Vengeance or Aura of Faith (?), the elite skill of simliar style.

I have died and not accumulated a dp a few times now, but this was when I was killed almost immediately after being rezzed i.e. took so much damage it killed me in seconds. I just thought it was a part of the game, to stop characters getting max dp in a very short amount of time from being rezzed in a middle of a group of bad guys over and over again.
If it is part of the game then that might explain the lack of dp, although dying withot taking dmg sounds very much like a bug to me. If it's not part of the game then I have experienced something that sounds like its in the same ball park from what Gismo has i guess |

I've seen something like this outside of UW, it was in the thirsty river mission, one of our party was killed and was rezzed but died again straight away. We were all like "wth" nothing was working so we carried on with the mission without rezzing him

I only notice this with 55 and 105 monks. Personally, I hate having them in my team, mainly because both I've had did NOT have a second set of armor. Big no-no.
Anyways, I don't think you succesfully changed weapons--I notice when farming and changing weapons that it actually takes a little bit to register sometimes. Like, if you die while *switching* it's like interrupting a skill. |

it's very hard to switch during this "insta-death" stuff, unless you're realy realy lucky to time it exactly right. better have someone take either vengeance or a res signet next time |

^ Im not reading any of the posts above mine...but here's the thing:
I have a 55 Monk build and I was stupid enough to take it into FoW saying that I was a normal Monk (With the average 1-2 sup runes). So we're all good through the Shadows, I died once and my group was ok with that. It was close, when the other Monk ressed me, there was +1 above my head, so I quickly swithed my -50 Grim Cesta to my Wroth's stuff (I'm Prot). So then I had around 60 Health and we were fine. Then we got to the Skeles and I knew I was going to die because of the Berserkers ><...so I took off all my armor and had 350 Health , but then I died quickly since I had to armor at all (1 normal attack from berserker = 80 damage)...so once I died and had 60% DP, the Monk tried to ressurect me, but a -0 always came above my head cause I had no life. And the faggot Warrior ( who thought he was leader of the group) told the rest of the team not to ressurect me, I was an extra person to heal for no reason...I hated that Warrior... Well, that's my story...I know there was no point to it but whatever. |

Oh well, who cares, there's no bug here, dont go to UW with 55hp unless you're willing to not be ressible. Lesson learned. Let's all move on.

I don't mind 55/105 monks if they know what they are doing and tell their teammates they aren't heal monks. |
